Michael Colella is seventh in scoring in the National Collegiate Development Conference. That’s good for any hockey player preparing for a NCAA Division 1 career. But it’s really good when you consider he hasn’t played an NCDC game since September. Colella piled up eight goals and 18 points in just seven NCDC games for the P.A.L. September was Pediatric Cancer Awareness month and the PAL 10U AAA Minor Jr Islanders team raised $387 to support the Whip Pediatric Cancer Charity.
In August of 2016 Whip Pediatric Cancer launched the HEART OF GOLD program which asked students to get involved in fundraising for pediatric cancer research. In 2016, Whip Pediatric Cancer sent out 500,000 HOLD paper hearts to 971 schools around the country.
The PAL 12U AAA Minor Jr Islanders team completed their community service on October 28th. They visited with the LI Roughriders sled hockey team and scrimmaged them at Bethpage Ice Rink. The players were able to meet and speak with the coaches, players and parents of the Roughriders and learn a little about their handicaps and how hockey is a fantastic outlet for them. The Jr Islanders team had a very difficult time navigating the sleds and were totally amazed at how skilled the Roughriders were. It was very humbling and rewarding for our boys (and parents) and they were able to donate $500 to the Roughriders. The Roughriders couldn’t have been more gracious and welcoming and have invited us back anytime we would like to visit. They are truly a remarkable group of people.
Congratulations to the PAL 14U AA team on winning the Championship at the Philadelphia Fall Classic Tournament held Oct 26th – Oct 28th. The team went 1-1-1 to qualify as the 2nd seed and then went on to beat Applecore 2-1 in the Finals. Great goaltending and hard work led to the championship victory.
