In addition to creating good hockey players, PAL Hockey strives to help our players become good citizens. Toward that end our organization has all of our teams select a community service project for all their players to participate in. Through doing for others, our players learn valuable life lessons that will serve them well in their years to come. See below for a description of each team's project for the 2013-2014 season as well as link to pictures.

SQUIRT AAA MINOR -
The PAL Jr. Islander Tier 1 Squirt Minor Team and Island Harvest teamed up on Sunday, 11/10/13 at Stop and Shop on Jericho Turnpike in East Northport to ask shoppers to help provide Thanksgiving dinners to families in need. Shoppers could purchase a pre-packaged trimmings box for $10 which contains all the items needed to complete a holiday dinner or they could make a monetary donation. The team worked for 4 hours and had a very successful event, raising hundreds of dollars for a great cause.

SQUIRT AA:
The Squirt AA team lent a hand to help Dr. Leon Klempner and the Smile Rescue Fund to raise money for a child who desperately needs plastic surgery and medical care that will enable her to integrate into society and live a normal productive life. The Smile Rescue Fund for Kids provides funding to children born with severe facial and craniofacial deformities. Our team crafted 100 bracelets for a local Hauppauge school to sell. They also created beautiful cards to send to this special girl named Saline.

PEEWEE AAA MINOR:
The Peewee AAA PAL Jr Islanders did their community service project on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Nissequogue River State Park. The boys cleaned up all the trash they found on the river, such as soda bottles, cigarettes, paper wrappers, fishing line, bottle caps and more. The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation also had the boys take a tally of the most collected items of trash that they picked up. Cigarettes and bottle caps were the most collected items that day. The boys did a great job cleaning up and learned that littering isn't safe for our environment!
